“Bringing It All In”
Founded in 2004, Blue Ocean is a real estate investment and management company headquartered in Baltimore, MD. Blue Ocean is active in a variety of sectors within the real estate industry including multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, and self-storage sectors. Today, the Blue Ocean portfolio consists of 23 properties valued at approximately $450,000,000. This portfolio consists of 3,000 apartment homes and almost 3,500,000 square feet of commercial space.
Blue Ocean was in need of a big-picture marketing partner who could help them in organizing many facets of their business – all related to marketing. With so many properties, investment projects, and potential opportunities coming their way, it was critical to find a partner who could communicate with an array of internal personnel, outside sources, and with leadership. The organization is always growing in amazing new ways, and each day brings a new opportunity. Fast turnaround times are the norm, and being nimble and responsive to changing needs is part of Blue Ocean’s everyday model.
The Strategy & Approach
We needed to hit the ground running. Ramp-up time was short, and our team was a quick study in everything property management and real estate investing. We dove in, gathered assets from an array of sources, streamlined the existing website, got to work on new photography, revamped social media marketing campaigns, and developed a communications strategy for all Blue Ocean personnel. Additionally, a public relations plan was developed to further the positive press and media around all things Blue Ocean.
We quickly realized that a new way of requisitioning marketing assets and related materials by Blue Ocean properties was long overdue. We developed a comprehensive intranet website, allowing the easy tracking and requesting of an array of materials. Bringing everyone on the same page with marketing and strategy was critical.
Blue Ocean’s branding has come a long way, now it’s hard to not see some positive aspect of their brand appearing in local media within the Baltimore area. A plan around reputation management was put into place, and new collateral materials for all properties are a shining example of professional and quality property management marketing within the industry. Another new website is underway, and an updated plan for media relations has launched.
