How we
got here.

Founder and Principal Monica Kolbay started ArachnidWorks in 1998, fresh out of Hood College and convinced that businesses deserved sharper, more intentional marketing.

Nearly three decades later, the team has strengthened to over 20 people, the methodology has a name, and the work has grown well beyond Frederick. Yet, that initial conviction hasn’t changed.

Twenty-eight

1998

ArachnidWorks is founded.

Monica Kolbay launches the studio in Downtown Frederick, fresh out of Hood College.

2004

First enterprise partnership.

A local manufacturer becomes the first of many multi-decade client relationships.

2011

The team doubles.

Strategy, creative, and web development come under one roof for the first time.

2016

Paid + SEO integrated.

What began as separate service lines merge into a single coordinated motion.

2021

The AW Method is named.

Twenty-three years of practice gets a framework — and a name — clients can point to.

2026
