Job Descriptions

Primarily responsible for communicating information visually through graphic layouts.  Designs and produces art and copy layouts for material to be presented by visual communications media such as print marketing collateral, electronic media, and packaging.

This is a full-time, in-person position located in our office in Frederick, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Develops graphic design concepts that are creative and innovative.
  • Has exceptional knowledge of Adobe CreativeSuite programs.
  • Works with Creative Director and/or Project Management to implement concepts.
  • Organizes content effectively within all layouts.
  • Responsible for developing, structuring, and laying out various components as per client expectations and/or Creative Brief.
  • Plans concepts by studying competitive information and related materials.
  • Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
  • Reviews final layout and suggests improvements as needed, and presents final layout to Creative Lead and/or Project for approval.
  • Reviews quality of final product before release to Project Management and/or Creative Lead.
  • Makes required changes requested by client, Project Management and/or Creative Lead, and assists in assembling the final design/layout.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.
  • Consults with Creative Lead and/or Project Management to evaluate individual project needs.
  • Studies illustrations, photographs and text to plan presentation of material, product or service.
  • Formulates concept and renders illustration and detail from models, sketches, memory and imagination.
  • Discusses design concepts at various stages of completion and makes changes as necessary.
  • Selects type, draws lettering, lays out material or performs related duties.
  • Draws or illustrates graphic material and lettering to be used for title, background, screen advertising, commercial logo and other visual layouts.
  • Provides roughs/proofs for approval by Project Management and/or Creative Lead.
  • Determines size and arrangement of marketing material and copy, selects style and size of type, and creates sample layouts.
  • Prepares cost and/or time estimate for project within quality specifications, financial constraints, and time schedule for project.
  • Maintains image/file resource files according to AW protocols.
